Quickly copy item paths to clipboard using Sitecore Rocks

There’s a handy  feature in Sitecore Rocks to quickly copy a full item path to the clipboard using the shortcut keys Ctrl+Alt+C. It’s probably most useful when you need to quickly make a list of a few items, for example when writing deployment notes.

For situations where you need to get a longer list of items, the easiest way is probably to use Query Analyzer to select the paths of the items required and copy from the result tab.

Both are extremely handy when writing Sitecore-related technical documentation.

The Ctrl+Alt+C command was added to Sitecore Rocks way back in version 0.7.14 CTP, almost two years ago. It was my suggestion so please use it! :)

I recently tried it out in the process of writing this blog post using Sitecore Rocks version 1.2.6. To my horror, everything closed and Windows tried to shut down!

For a moment, I did consider the possibility that Windows 7 had added a new shortcut key and that Sitecore developers the world over had been accidentally shutting down their machines because of me. :)

It turns out a desktop monitor manager called Winsplit Revolution that I’m running also uses the Ctrl+Alt+C shortcut to close all windows.
